Update or something

I totally called it. I knew I would make this and not touch it. Go figure right ? Maybe I just have too much going on......pfffft yeah right.

Well here's a brief recap on how I have been / What I have been doing the last few months:

-Working. Each day that goes by makes me hate my job more, I'm looking for new work opportunities but the economy sucks so bad that no one can hire anyone. I swear to god though, I cannot stand another month of clocks ticking and chiming and just making the most obnoxious sounds imaginable for 8 hours a day. I wake up at night in a cold sweat with a digital tone rendition of "Hey Jude" by the Beatles blasting in my head. I could write a whole page of FMLs from one 8 hour shift. So FMJ (Is that legit? Maybe I'm setting trends here)

-Girlfriending. I love this girl that I am like dating but she just moved back home so now I can't spend every night with her. It sucks, I am before forced to have a social life again and all I want to do is sit on her futon and watch youtubes. Worst part is neither of us have reliable or cost effective transportation so for the next 2 and a half months I don't know how often I will see her. It's terrible, she's by far the best thing I have going in life and now I sit 80 miles away from her wondering how she's doing when all I want to do is ask her in person.

-Warm Weather-ing. Now that it's nice out I dusted off the old skateboard (read: very old skateboard, it's extremely unsafe to even ride it let alone trying to do tricks). Been hitting up the frisbee golf course now and then, and basically just spending a lot more time outside. The beauty of summer is that no matter what you have something to do, unless of course it's pouring rain or a horrid day out like today.

-Old Friend-ing. My friends from high school are back in town again so it's nice to catch up...kind of. The more time I spend away from them the less it seems like we have anything in common, so lately I have been kind of avoiding social scenarios involving them solely because I don't enjoy their company as much. Luckily I did a terrible job of being proactive and trying to meet new people again this year, so with my girlfriend gone it's going to be the same 5 dudes over and over. Not that that's a problem, I just wish I had a larger friend base than I do now...maybe I'm just pretentious and picky.

-NOT World Of Warcrafting. I went cold turkey. I swear that game is worse than cocaine. It took me 53 days of total playing time to realize what a sinkhole I was falling into. Skipping parties to try and get new gauntlets, being 2 hours late to my girlfriend's place because my raid group kept dying to an easy boss...it was pretty pathetic. Long story short I'm somewhere between a month and two clean of WoW. It feels great.

-Concerting. Great story to be told. It was my friend Alex's birthday and his favorite band is Taking Back Sunday, so it only made sense that we see them in concert on his birthday in his favorite city: Minneapolis. The show was amazing, but the best part was afterward. Most of the kids at the show left right after the lost song, but maybe 50 of us stuck around...we mostly did just because we had nothing else to do, but everyone else was hoping for autographs and pictures. We let the fans have their time, and then I swooped in on the bass player Matt and stage guitarist Isaac and got them to suprise Alex with birthday wishes. We ended up chillin with the two of them for quite some time, and in conversation it was brought up that we were from Madison. They were playing a show in Milwaukee the next night and told us if we made it they would let us in free. What the fuck else did we do? We woke up the next day and drove to Milwaukee with mixed feelings: Would they remember us? Would we find them? Where we supposed to just like knock on the tour bus and expect free tickets? All of these questions were answered swiftly when we arrived at the venue to find Matt just sitting on a fountain texting on his phone or something. He actually noticed us first, and called us over to him as soon as we were in earshot. He promplty placed us on the GUEST LIST, meaning free tickets and the freedom to wander around the venue. We had a good 20 minute chat before he was called to sound check or something. We spent an hour seeing how fast we could drink a liter of Old Thompson before heading into the venue. While we sat in the parking lot and drank, Mark (TBS's drummer) walked past and did a double take. He remembered us from the night before too!! We talked with him for a while and my friend Mike gave him a Telos Ascent CD. He even took a shot of old tommy and had a cigarette with us! He had to go back in for the soundcheck too, so we let him be after 15 minutes or so.

Once we got inside we booked it upstairs because the two opening bands sucked and we didn't want to sit through them (Anberlin and Envy On The Coast...no thanks) as we were chilling upstairs contemplating springing 7 bucks each for a beer (the old tommy was gone) Isaac and another guitarist, also named Matt, walked up and expressed how suprised they were that we had made it. They remembered us too. After like 10 minutes they had to head down and get ready, so we ran down as well and found our way to the front right away. A security guard took an instant liking to us and entertained us with games of rock paper scissors with our concert attendance on the line. I won in a dazzling display of rock paper and scissors. My friends were impressed.

The show was awesome and there isn't really anything left to the story. Well, someone grabbed me by the collar and ripped my shirt in half. Other than that nothing else really to talk about. We drove home stoked and tired. Sleeping in my own bed has never been so great.

I also just attended soundset with my girlfriend and some other guys. One of them was her long time friend, he was reallll cool. He let us stay at his place and showed us the city of Minneapolis in extreme detail. The concert in itself was a debacle though. The acts were pretty disappointing (Save for Brother Ali, his set was amazing) and we couldn't find our ride after the show ended. Thinking logically we figured we would wait at his car, a place he would HAVE to go before going anywhere else. 45 minutes go by and we don't see him, so we leave detailed instructions to a place called Pizza Luce's and head to get some food. All of my belongings are in his car: My wallet, my backpack with all my clothes, etc. I had a tshirt, my phone (with no charger) half a pack of cigarettes, some jeans, and my shoes (no socks). We waited at Luce's for a long ass time but never saw him. At this point it was something like 1 AM and the last time we had even talked to him was maybe 8 PM. Figuring that he might be waiting at Rob's (the guy who let us stay with him) we drove back...only to find how wrong we were. We were all very tired and opted to go to sleep and try to sort things out in the morning (our ride's phone was dead).

I didn't get ahold of him until about 3 pm the next day...he was home in Madison with all of our stuff in his car. We found a ride on craigslist and ended up springing like 50 dollars to get back rather than splitting gas 3 ways for all of 10 each. Needless to say I was fucking pissed. I let Pierce (our "ride") know how mad I was when we finally got back, but more than anything my girlfriend and I just wanted to go to sleep. We had an excellent walk and talk, and finally found ourselves in bed. That's really it for that story, was quite an adventure being stranded with nothing but some cigarettes and a dying phone I couldn't charge. Oh well, shit happens I guess ?

That's really all that's been going on the past few months, just figured I would put this wasted URL to some use :/ Thanks for reading I guess. PAYCE
